Records show Skippy Miller, who is awaiting trial in Lake County over a Buffalo Grove burglary, was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant.

GLENCOE, IL — Prosecutors charged a fourth man with residential burglary over a break-in at a Glencoe home last year.

Skippy Miller, 28, of the 5100 block of North Albany Avenue, Chicago, is accused of breaking into a house in the 500 block of Pinewood Drive on the afternoon of Oct. 10, 2022.

Miller was initially taken into custody last year with "a large amount of jewelry, coins and U.S. currency on [his] person," but released without charges pending further investigation, according to Assistant State's Attorney Tristin Minx.

Police found Miller's name was on the rental agreement for the Zipcar used in the burglary and cell phone location data put Miller "within a few miles of the residence" at the time of the break-in, Minx said Wednesday at Miller's initial court appearance.

Miller's co-defendants, 24-year-old Paul Ely, 36-year-old Walter Reed and 44-year-old Archie Miller, appeared in court last week following their May 9 arrest in Wheeling.

After last week setting the cash portion of the other men's bond at $2,500, Cook County Associate Judge Anthony Calabrese ordered Skippy Miller to remain jailed unless he can come up with $10,000.

"None of those individuals had possession of any of the proceeds, which is a significantly different matter than Mr. Skippy Miller," Calabrese said.

"That principal difference includes the strength of the state's case," he said. "And another factor of significance is not one but two pending allegations at the time."

Miller also had an arrest warrant issued April 12 by DuPage County officials in connection with a Burr Ridge residential burglary, for which he would have needed to post $35,000 to avoid detention.

In a separate pending case, Miller is charged with residential burglary and theft in connection with a Buffalo Grove incident. Court records indicate that charge was initially filed in November 2022, and Miller was arrested the next month. He is due back in court June 6.

Miller's defense attorney at Wednesday's hearing, Joe DiNatale, told the judge his client had been compliant with his bail in the Lake County matter, which "appears to be a similar case where he was stopped and then arrested some time later."

In addition to the two pending cases, Miller has a 2020 conviction for home repair fraud in Kane County and a 2012 residential burglary conviction, for which he received two days in jail with conditional discharge and probation, respectively.

Prosecutors last week referenced a fifth co-defendant awaiting re-arrest, who police have yet to identify. Miller's already charged co-defendants — all of whom live in Arlington Heights — have similar criminal records, including home repair fraud convictions. His defense attorney acknowledged as much.

"Some are not as bad," DiNatale said of their records. "Some are worse than his."
