A Trip to Barcelona Brings Out the Inner Artist

Seeing the works of architect Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona inspired Ingrid Anderson-Grace to join a friend’s mosaic art group in Wilmette five years ago. 

Anderson-Grace will be selling mosaic tiles and magnetic pins she made with her friend Susan Segal at Winnetka Artisan’s Fair. 

The full-time occupational therapist is shy to call herself an artist but says, “I’ve always liked to do artsy, crafty things.” 

Apart from mosaic works, the Winnetka resident will also be selling knitted items. 

“In recent years many new novelty yarns have appeared – this makes it fun to combine different textures, colors,” Anderson-Grace said. “Some of my items this year are not even knitted with yarn.”

More than 70 artisans, crafters and fair-trade vendors will be offering a variety of unique items such as jewelry, dolls, photos, knit wear, tasty preserves and more from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Winnetka Community House.  

Hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Winnetka-Northfield and Wilmette Harbor, the fair’s net proceeds will benefit Rotary International’s End Polio Now Initiative and the Winnetka-Northfield Charitable Foundation’s Community Grant Awards.
