Police: Felon Charged with Unlawful Possession of a Two Guns

The following information was provided by the Wilmette Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Theft
A victim reports that her bicycle was taken from the bike rack at the Wilmette Metra Station at 722 Green Bay Rd., police reports state. The bike had been secured with a wired lock. 

Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon
Erik Roemer, 48, of Wilmette is being charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, according to Wilmette Police reports. Weapons were removed from his residence following a battery arrest where he threatened to kill someone. He was charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. 

Felony Retail Theft
Wilmette officers responded to a hang-up 911 call from Parkway Drugs at 333 Ridge Rd. saying that two subjects removed items from the store and left without paying, police reports state. A civilian police employee observed the vehicle leaving town and followed it until other Wilmette Police Officers could curb the vehicle, police reports state. The vehicle was stopped on Frontage Rd. and Central Ave. in Morton Grove. The two occupants of the vehicle — Richard Perez, 41, and Luisa Torres, 35, both of Chicago are being charged with felony retail theft. 

Taxi Fare Dispute
An officer was waved down by a taxi driver at the intersection of Lake and Ridge Rd. on June 28. The driver reported that his fare had run off without paying, police reports state. An Ohio driver's license was located in the rear seat. The subject, a Glenview resident, was located. He came into the station and told police that he loaned the ID to a friend. He identified the friend and paid the cab fare.
