The Village has been responding to calls for street closures and isolated sanitary backups. There have been no evacuations and local ponds are being monitored to ensure they are draining. The Woodridge Community Resource Center is closed School Districts 68 and 66 have cancelled all after school activities.

Water is beginning to recede on these roadways, but they will remain closed until they are safe for vehicles. Do not drive through high water and do not drive around barricades. Residents are asked to postpone taking showers and limit the use of washing machines, dishwashers, and other devices that require significant sewer support.

All Woodridge Public Works staff are in the field opening and closing roads as necessary and monitoring storm and sanitary sewers. Motorists are asked to call the Village at 630-719-4753 if they:

Encounter roads that are impassable, but have not yet been closed
Encounter ponds that are overflowing onto the roadway
Are experiencing a sanitary sewer surcharge in their home

If you have experienced flooding in your basement, please avoid entering the basement until the water subsides. Once it is safe to enter, homeowners are encouraged to take photos of damage and contact their homeowner’s insurance. Please remove garbage and recycling bins from driveways as soon as possible and keep garbage away from curbs and other areas where storm water may carry it away.

Adults and children should not wade into or enter flood waters due to debris and other unknowns. Further, drowning is the number one cause of flood deaths and six inches of moving water can knock you off your feet.

As of 10:15 a.m., Mayor William Murphy has declared a State of Emergency in the Village of Woodridge. Illinois Benedictine College has opened a shelter at 5700 College Road at the Krasa Center.

Up to an additional 1.25” of rain is expected to fall between this afternoon and through late this evening. Light rain is expected again early Friday morning continuing throughout the day. Please watch for additional updates as conditions change.
