PLANO, IL — A lucky winner scored a $550,000 jackpot after purchasing a winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at a Plano liquor store, the Illinois Lottery announced Friday.

The ticket purchased at Plano Liquor and Wine, at 401 E. South St., matched all five numbers — 3, 4, 6, 26 and 28 — in the Sept. 27 drawing to secure the jackpot of more than half a million dollars.

It's not the first win for the fortuitous buyer, who chose to remain anonymous under the nickname "Boom."

"Would you believe this isn't my first big win," Boom said, per an Illinois Lottery news release. "I actually won $50,000 on Lucky Day Lotto back in 2001, so to win again is just amazing!"

When he shared the news with his wife, she was so surprised she started hyperventilating, he told lottery officials.

"I woke her up and asked, 'Honey, where do you want to move? I just won the lottery!'" he said. "She started hyperventilating. I almost called 911!"

The couple has big plans for their earnings: "We're going to take a dream trip to Hawaii this winter to visit family and make the holidays unforgettable! This also sets us up nicely for retirement."

For selling the winning ticket, the liquor store will receive a bonus of $5,500, or 1 percent of the prize amount.

Lucky Day Lotto is an Illinois-only draw game with two daily drawings at 12:40 p.m. and 9:22 p.m., with jackpots starting at $100,000. Tickets can be purchased in stores, online and on the Illinois Lottery app.
