The City of Yorkville has seen a spike in vehicle thefts due to cars left running unattended or unlocked.

YORKVILLE, IL — Lock your car doors — and don't leave your vehicles running and unattended. That's the message from Yorkville police, who report an increase in vehicle thefts among cars left running and unattended or unlocked.

Police are encouraging residents to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables left in parked vehicles.

"Furthermore, to protect against vehicle theft, the police department discourages its citizens and visitors from leaving vehicles running unattended with the key in the ignition," police said.
