New Kendall County Building To Be Unveiled With Ribbon Cutting

The $9.4 million facility will house the county clerk, election and recorders offices.

YORKVILLE, IL — Kendall County officials are ready to unveil the new building that will house the county clerk, elections and recorders offices.

Officials will mark the grand opening of County Office Building II with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. June 18 on the county's Main Street Campus, 502 S. Main St. in Yorkville. Representatives from Kendall County and Cordogan Clark, the Chicago-based architecture firm helming the project, will attend the event, which will feature remarks, tours of the building and refreshments.

The opening is part of the first phase of improvements for the county's downtown Yorkville campus, also home to the Historic Kendall County Courthouse.

The $9.4 million facility was paid for using American Rescue Plan Act funding from the federal government. Part of the new building's function is to provide better customer access and facilitate modern department operations, officials said.

"[Cordogan Clark's] expertise and commitment to innovation transformed the Main Street Campus into a modern, functional, and aesthetically pleasing facility that meets the needs of Kendall County and its residents," officials wrote in a news release.

In the fall, county executives plan to begin renovating the current County Office Building, a project expected to be completed in fall 2025, officials said. Improvements are also planned for driveways, walkways and parking areas.

"Kendall County is eager to open the doors on this ambitious expansion project, which enhances the functionality, accessibility, and overall experience for residents and employees," officials wrote in a news release. "The Main Street Campus project exemplifies Kendall County's commitment to progress and its dedication to providing the community with the best possible facilities and services."
