Operation Welcome You Home Invites Community to Honor U.S. Army War Vet With Keys to New Home: May 19

YORKVILLE, IL – Operation Welcome You Home, the local organization supporting our troops, Pulte Homes Built To Honor program and Military Warriors Support Foundation join together and invite the community for the ‘Final Reveal Event’ where Retired U.S. Army Sergeant Brodick G. Richmond and his family will receive keys to their new mortgage free home. The gathering will take place at Autumn Creek Park Friday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m.

Sgt. Richmond is a Purple Heart recipient and a decorated veteran. He served in the U.S Army as an indirect fire infantryman, 11C20, and was deployed both to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

During one of Richmond’s deployments to Afghanistan he fired over 1,500 rounds of counter fire from his mortar which resulted in saving many soldier's lives at Combat Outpost ZEROK, according to Operation Welcome You Home.

In 2006, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for his active involvement in ground combat operation while under hostile enemy fire. In 2008, during the heat of battle, his mortar squad was hit by an enemy projectile and they sustained multiple serious injuries.

Richmond received the Purple Heart for being wounded that day as well as many commendations and awards for his time in the service. His goal for the future is to maintain a positive attitude and to take care of his family. Richmond and his wife Terrica have been married for 5 years and are a deserving family in need of a home.
