Road Rage Incident Over Littering Ends In Arrest: Yorkville PD

Authorities said a 54-year-old Montgomery man threw a drink at another driver Tuesday afternoon, causing them to fear for their life.

YORKVILLE, IL — A 54-year-old Montgomery man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a road rage incident that started over littering caused a person to fear for their own safety, officials said.

According to authorities, William Popp was arguing with another driver over alleged littering on Route 34 at Autumn Creek Boulevard when he threw a drink at the other driver, hitting them and their vehicle. From there, police said the other driver had a "reasonable apprehension" of being assaulted by Popp.

The victim's name has not been released. Shortly after the 1:20 p.m. incident, police found Popp nearby and took him into custody. He is accused of battery, assault and criminal damage of property, all misdemeanors.
