Standoff Ensues After Yorkville Man Threatens Delivery Driver, Police With Knife: YPD
During the hours-long standoff, the suspect entered and exited the house armed with a knife, threatening anyone who came near, police said.
YORKVILLE, IL — A Yorkville man who threatened a delivery driver, and later police, with a knife prompted a standoff Sunday near the downtown area, officials said.
The incident in the 600 block of Tower Lane began with a series of 911 calls from the man, Jamar E. Clinton. The 22-year-old man was uncooperative during the initial response, at about 11:03 a.m., and officers later determined that the 911 call was prompted by a verbal dispute between Clinton and a family member, officials said.
Over the course of the next few hours, police said the Clinton made several more emergency calls but remained uncooperative with both call takers and responding officers. At about 2:40 p.m., Yorkville officers were dispatched back to the residence after receiving a report that Clinton had threatened a delivery driver with a knife, according to a news release. The man then threatened to harm any responders who approached the property, officials said.
