Man Flees Warrant At Kendall County Courthouse, Believed To Have Left Area: Sheriff
Deputies were attempting to take the man into custody on an outstanding failure to appear warrant for domestic battery.

YORKVILLE, IL — Deputies are searching for a man they say fled the Kendall County Courthouse Tuesday morning as officials attempted to take him into custody, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
Police said 32-year-old Rayvon Johnson ran from the courthouse shortly after 11 a.m. as deputies attempted to take him into custody on an outstanding failure to appear warrant for domestic battery.
According to an update from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, Johnson entered the courthouse and went through the security screening checkpoint at the main entrance. As he was conducting his business at the courthouse, officials discovered a warrant for his arrest had been issued for failing to appear in court in a 2022 domestic battery case.

Officials said deputies attempted to take Johnson into custody, but he fled. "While attempting to run away, he pushed past a deputy who was attempting to stop him," the sheriff's office said, clarifying that as Johnson "was not incarcerated at the Kendall County Jail, nor was he in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office prior to this incident," it is not considered an escape.
He was last seen heading east from the courthouse at 807 John St. in Yorkville on foot, wearing black shorts and a black shirt. The sheriff's office described Johnson as 6-foot-2 and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is working with law enforcement partners, using K9 teams and drones, to attempt to locate Johnson.
"A K9 track was performed, and the track concluded at a location where he was possibly picked up in a vehicle. That, taken along with other evidence and information developed during this investigation, indicates he is likely no longer in the area," police said.
"Johnson does not appear to pose an immediate public safety threat; however, we are asking area residents to remain vigilant and contact us at 630-553-5856 to report any suspicious activity," officials said. In an update, the sheriff's office said, "He did not make any threats or give any indication that he intended to do anything other than avoid apprehension."
