Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:
- Twenty-seven animals were rescued from a house on Indy’s south side after neighbors questioned a foul odor that seemed to hang in the air outside the residence. The Indianapolis Animal Care Services removed 18 dogs and nine cats from the home in the 3100 block of W. Epler Avenue on Wednesday afternoon and took the animals to a shelter to be placed under hold for an undetermined amount of time. According to John David Peterson who lives near the home, a woman who lived in the Epler house was seen “kidnapping” 24 of the dogs and leaving before animal services arrived on Wednesday. - Indy Schools will be hosting its first High School Fair this Saturday. Seventeen of Indianapolis’ free, public charter, and Innovation Network high schools will be featured at the event, where families can take part in educational workshops, learn more about academic resources, Indy Summer Learning Labs, and more. The fair will take place from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. at The Global Village Welcome Center located at 4233 Lafayette Road. (WISH TV Indianapolis, IN)
- A free mobile clinic is bringing access to healthcare for those in need across Indy. The nonprofit Gennesaret Free Clinics is stocked with antibiotics, over-the-counter medications, hygiene kits, and clothes for people in need, and even has a dental clinic and women’s health services clinic. The nonprofit launched a "Hit The Streets" campaign with a goal to raise $50,000 for hiring more staff, new supplies, and fuel. (WISH TV Indianapolis, IN)
