Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:
- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released videos that show what happened the night an officer and a suspect were both shot. The video online shows body camera footage from Officer Thomas Mangan on Feb. 27. Officers originally responded to the scene of a crash at the 1600 block of Lexington Avenue when they received calls that an "intoxicated male," identified as Mylik Hill, was exposing himself after the crash. The new body-camera footage shows the incident that ensued leaving Officer Mangan shot in the neck and Hill wounded. (WISH TV Indianapolis, IN)
- There will be significant road closures in Indy in April as city officials have broken ground on several high-profile projects. These closures are in addition to several other long-term projects happening including the North Split interchange reconstruction downtown and the revamping of brick-covered Market Street near Monument Circle. Find out all the road closures and detours at the link. (IndyStar)
- An Indy man is being charged after a deceased dog and two emaciated puppies were found in his yard. James Campbell is being charged with three separate counts of animal cruelty. Campbell claims that he didn’t realize how cold it was when he left his dogs outside to go to the grocery store. However, Indianapolis Animal Care Services said employees had been to Campbell’s home at least twice before on separate incidents. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
