Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. One man is dead after a shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Thursday night. The shooting took place in the 4300 block of Stouffer Lane just after 6:00 p.m. The man was taken to a hospital but did not survive his injuries; the victim's identity has not been released.   2. The Indianapolis Zoo said goodbye to Knobi, its 42-year-old orangutan, yesterday. Knobi's health had been in decline, but the animal care team made her comfortable to the end. She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but had kept a well-balanced diet during her tenure with the zoo. Read more about the remarkable primate at the link. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
  3. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has named Patrick McPherson its officer of the year. Officer McPherson works with the Downtown Flex Team and Homeless Unit. He said that he was "shocked" and "humbled" by the award. Watch the video at the link. (WISH TV Indianapolis, IN)
