🌱 Man Dies After Being Tased + Students Protest Firing Of Educator

Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. An Indianapolis man is dead after being tasered by a police officer on Monday. According to police, officers responded to a disturbance call after 3:00 a.m. on Monday to encounter a man and his parents. Police say that during negotiation the man moved quickly towards an officer who then deployed his taser. Body camera footage has not been released as of Tuesday afternoon. (wlfi.com)
  2. Students at Indianapolis Metropolitan High School left the building during lunch in protest of the firing of the school's restorative coordinator, Vanessa Elliot. According to students, the coordinator was improperly fired after an altercation involving a student. According to Elliot, the camera footage of the altercation shows that she was not aggressive with the student. The school declined to comment. (WTHR)
  3. More than 1,000 Walmart workers may be out of a job as the Plainfield distribution center closes. The distribution center was the site of an enormous fire in March that lasted 76 hours. 957 of the associates who worked at the distribution center have found new positions with the company, the remaining 1,132 employees have not accepted positions, and have until Jul. 15 to be relocated before termination.
