Jasper firefighters, with backup requested from Huntingburg, contained the blaze and evacuated employees, with no reported injuries at the scene. Police later linked an injured person found at Sternberg’s 24 and More to the crash but have released few details.

He shared local history through bicentennial articles and was known for his love of gardening and homemade blackberry pies, leaving behind his wife, daughters, and sister in Jasper.
