• Maurice 'Cork' Kirkpatrick, Jr., 87 – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — LaGrange residents are mourning longtime community member Maurice “Cork” Kirkpatrick, Jr., 87, who passed away at his LaGrange home on December 12. A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church on North Detroit Street, followed by a fellowship meal. Friends are invited to share memories and consider memorial gifts to the church or Dementia Society of America.
   

• Three new confirmed cases of HPAI in Indiana, more than 46,000 birds impacted since December 10th (brownfieldagnews.com) — Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza has now been confirmed at commercial poultry sites in LaGrange County, leading to the loss of more than 46,000 birds since December 10. State animal health officials have set up control and surveillance zones around affected farms and stress that poultry products remain safe to eat. Local producers are urged to stay vigilant, especially with new testing rules for dairy cattle movement.
