Your Thanksgiving Travel Forecast: Traffic, Weather, Gas Prices

AAA reports this year's Thanksgiving weekend travel projection is highest since 2005: More

ACROSS INDIANA – Thanksgiving weekend travel has already started, and AAA reports 50.9 million Americans are projected to travel 50 miles or more from home this holiday weekend. If that's not enough, AAA says that's a 3.3 percent increase than last year, and the highest Thanksgiving travel amount since 2005. AAA adds travel time over the holiday weekend may also be three times longer.

But that's not all, 1.6 million more people will be joining you this year than last year when it comes to traveling by the nation’s roads, skies, rails and waterways. In fact, based on historical and recent travel trends for the holiday week, INRIX and AAA predict drivers will experience the greatest amount of congestion during the early evening, as early as Tuesday of this Thanksgiving week.

Today's national gas price average is $2.534, which AAA reports has declined ahead of the anticipated heaviest trafficked holiday in years. In Indiana drivers are seeing an average of $2.606, which is down from Monday's price and last week's price, so go fill up at the pumps as soon as you can.
