La Casa de Amistad Receives $25,000 Grant from Comcast to Advance Digital Opportunity in Michiana

Comcast also donates laptops to graduates of the nonprofit's digital education program

La Casa de Amistad, a South Bend-based community organization, announced it has received a $25,000 grant from Comcast to support digital skills training in Michiana.

This marks the third consecutive year Comcast has supported La Casa de Amistad’s digital assistance program, which helps adults build essential computer skills ranging from navigating online job applications to creating resumes. In addition to the grant, Comcast donated 25 laptops to recent program graduates, equipping them to continue developing their digital growth.

“Comcast’s ongoing investment will allow us to sustain and grow our digital programming,” said Juan Constantino, Chief Executive Officer of La Casa de Amistad. “Whether it’s accessing their child’s school portal or applying for a new job, our graduates develop life-changing skills that are essential to thrive in today’s digital world.”

“La Casa de Amistad has made countless contributions to South Bend, and its digital assistance program is a vital resource for our residents,” said Patrick McGuire, Director of Civic Innovation for the City of South Bend. “Thank you to Comcast for investing in our community.”

“La Casa de Amistad’s digital assistance program is helping to close the digital divide in Michiana by equipping community members with the skills they need to access employment opportunities and vital online services,” said Grace Hong Duffin, Comcast’s Regional Vice President of External and Government Affairs. “We’re proud to continue supporting an organization that shares our commitment to advancing digital opportunity.”

Over the past three years, Comcast has made a total of more than $3 million in cash and in-kind donations to Indiana nonprofits. The grant and laptop donations to La Casa de Amistad are part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital opportunity and help create a future of unlimited possibilities.
