• Man found guilty of killing 11-year-old boy in South Bend (wndu.com) — A jury has convicted a 21-year-old man of murdering 11-year-old T’yon Horston, who was shot in April 2023 on N. Johnson Street in South Bend. The former Jefferson Traditional School sixth grader’s killer now faces 45 to 65 years in prison, with sentencing set for Jan. 16, 2026.
   

• Tribune Christmas carol-singing contest offers chance to win prize (southbendtribune.com) — If you love belting out Christmas carols, the South Bend Tribune is inviting local residents within 50 miles to submit a short a cappella video for a chance at a $50 grocery gift card. Entries are due Dec. 18, online voting runs Dec. 20–27, and the winning singer will be revealed Dec. 29.
   

• Will Spurgeon leads Jimtown to boys basketball win against New Prairie (southbendtribune.com) — Jimtown’s boys basketball team, led by senior scorer Will Spurgeon, rolled past New Prairie 57-38, a result that factors into South Bend-area high school hoops races. New coach Ryan Varga, formerly at South Bend Washington, is pushing the Jimmies to play tougher, while New Prairie adjusts to a new coach and a key injury in rugged NIC competition.
