Scholarship recipients receive full-tuition grants to Purdue University

Three high school seniors from the South Bend Community School Corporation were named Posse Scholars; the announcement was made today by the Posse Foundation.

Washington High School senior Jonathan Garcilazo, Riley High School senior Isaiah Robinson, and Adams High School senior Nah’Shon Williams each will receive a full-tuition scholarship to Purdue University, as well as ongoing leadership, character, and career development training that will continue throughout their college careers.

Rooted in the belief that traditional college admissions can sometimes miss public high school students with outstanding academic and leadership potential, Posse Scholarships expand the ability for these students to achieve academic and professional success. Each Posse Scholar is assigned to a ten-member, peer-assisting, inclusive team that will be attending the same university.

To date, more than 9,200 Posse Scholars have been admitted to top-tier universities around the world and have earned more than $1.4 billion in full-tuition leadership grants.

Posse Scholars must be nominated by a high school teacher or counselor, undergo a three-month screening process, and are evaluated not only on academic success, but on leadership abilities, motivation to excel, and willingness to constructively interact with those from diverse backgrounds.
