Libby makes it simple to listen when, where, and how you want. Swipe on the book cover to skip backward or forward. Increase playback speed up to 3x. Set a sleep timer until the end of the chapter or for 5, 10, 30 minutes, or more.

All your loans, notes, bookmarks, and reading progress sync across your devices.

Download ebooks and audiobooks for offline reading, or stream them to save space.

Enjoy audiobooks in your car through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or a Bluetooth connection.

If you prefer reading on your Kindle, Libby can send your library books to it.

The Libby app works similarly to the Overdrive app and is the app used primarily by the Overdrive service. The Overdrive app will no longer be supported after February 23, 2022. It will continue to work but will no longer be updated. The Library encourages everyone to migrate to the Libby app.

Your current holds in the Overdrive app will continue to be fulfilled in Overdrive; you will be notified through your Overdrive app when your title is ready. However, when you begin using the Libby app, holds from the Overdrive app will not automatically transfer to the Libby app. As you stop using the Overdrive app, it is recommended that you start over by placing new holds in the Libby app.

Timelines in Overdrive, which give you a record of your past reads, will not transfer to the Libby app. It is recommended that you take screen shots or record your Overdrive Timelines before you cease using that app. The Libby app will keep track of your Timelines from your start of using Libby.

You are able to sync Overdrive Wish Lists to Libby by creating an Overdrive Wish List tag in the Libby app.

Every Monday and Thursday through February 28 from 1pm to 3pm, patrons can sign up for one-on-one help from a Librarian! This gives you the opportunity for one Librarian to focus on answering all of your questions. Librarians can assist with:

Call, chat, or email us with any questions at askalib@hmmpl.org or go online and sign up for the next available Learning Libby with a Librarian appointment!

If you currently use the legacy OverDrive app and need assistance, visit https://help.overdrive.com.
