• Zionsville waste management upgrades moving forward (youarecurrent.com) — Zionsville’s Town Council has approved $7 million in sewage works bonds to fund a $9.6 million upgrade of the town’s wastewater treatment facilities without raising current sewer rates. The project will replace key equipment, reduce odors, and modernize controls, while a separate proposal involving Citizens Wastewater service in Boone County was delayed for outside legal review.

• Honoring Service: Zionsville resident inducted into Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame (youarecurrent.com) — A longtime Zionsville resident, Vietnam veteran and Eli Lilly retiree Joseph Alford has been inducted into the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame for his service and decades of community work. Active with the Zionsville Optimist Club and Boone County Habitat for Humanity, the 82-year-old also competes in masters swimming and continues to advocate for veterans statewide.

• Remembering 'Jeff the Ref,' beloved longtime youth sports official who died during high school basketball game (wthr.com) — A longtime youth sports referee who worked games from Zionsville to Grand Park and Danville died after collapsing during a girls basketball game at Monrovia High School. Friends say 63-year-old “Jeff the Ref” Tamarri spent decades calmly guiding young athletes and defusing tense moments across central Indiana, leaving many local kids and families grieving his loss.
