Zionsville Crews To Remove Dozens Of Ash Trees
The trees have fallen victim to a notoriously invasive pest known as the emerald ash borer.

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- Crews will be out and about for the next two weeks removing about 35 dead ash trees along a major Zionsville corridor.
The Zionsville Parks Department has recruited Pings Tree Service to eradicate the trees, which all fell victim to emerald ash borers, according to a community alert. The company's workers will be focusing their initial efforts on Big-4 Rail Trail between Eagle Creek and Town Hall.
"All the trees being removed have succumbed to the emerald ash borer," officials said. "Trail users should be mindful of the work that is taking place and may experience short interruptions ... This work is being done for the safety of trail users and to avoid potential damage to parks and neighboring structures."

Weather permitting, the work should be complete by the end of December. Parks department officials are planning additional tree removal, thereafter, to clear any remaining destruction the invasive pest has left in its wake.
