AECD Announces Solum Expansion Job Fair

Solum plans to build a laboratory here in Ames creating 25 full-time jobs and 40 additional part-time positions. The Ames Economic Development Commission announced that Solum will hold a job fair at Iowa State University next week.

Solum, Inc., a leader in advanced field measurement technology for commercial agriculture, will hold a career fair  July 18 at the Alumni Center, the announced today.

The fair will help facilitate Solum's plans to expand in Ames which was announced weeks ago. The company received a $100,000 grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority and plans to build a laboratory in Ames, according to a report in Silicone Prairie News.

“The decision to make Ames our choice for expansion was clear early in the process,” said Landon Morris, Solum Vice President of Business Development, in a release from the commission. “We have been working closely with ISU faculty for several years, and the Ames community has been extremely supportive.”

Solum develops advanced measurement systems and software solutions to increase profitability. The laboratory will employ 25 people full-time and create a possible 40 additional part-time or seasonal jobs.

“We knew Solum would be a great fit in Ames,” said Dan Culhane, Ames Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission (AEDC) President and CEO in the release. “We have a track record of attracting new and innovative companies who are considering Iowa, and we’re pleased to be supporting Solum’s growth plans.”

The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Reiman South Ballroom at the ISU Alumni Center, 420 Beach Ave. Learn more about the jobs available here:t www.desmoineshelpwanted.com.
