Albert Gary an Iowa State University football player originally charged with first-degree robbery, was sentenced Monday with three years in probation on .

Gary pleaded guilty to first-degree theft in a Story County Courtroom Monday. ESPN reported that Gary will have to live in the for about six months as part of the agreement.

The charges stem from an that took place on Iowa State University campus in June.

According to initial reports, a man told University police that he and two others were robbed at gunpoint on central campus. He said they were approached by six men and one of them had a handgun. About the same time university police responded to a 911 call on campus and chased men running from central campus and found four pellet guns north of the reported robbery, a University police report said. Gary was identified by witnesses as one of the robbers, the report said.

First-degree theft, is a Class C felony, punishable by 10 years in prison and going armed with intent is a Class D felony, punishable by 5 years in prison. Gary has agreed to serve three years of probation, serve time at a residential facility and to pay $2,000 in fines.
