Ames Police Blotter: OWIs in Ames

Three men driving through Ames were charged with operating while intoxicated this week, according to information provided by the Ames Police Department. People found guilty of this charge lose their license for 6 months the first time and for a year on the second offense. Convictions usually come with a jail sentence of at least two days.

 Michael VanMaaren, 65, E. 14^th St., was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense at 5:41 p.m.

May 8

Randy Bartness, 56, E. Lincoln Way, was charged with operating while intoxicated, third offense, at 9:12 p.m.

May 11

Wade Gibson, 22, Dubuque, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense at 2:10 a.m.
