Ames Police Looking for Officers
City of Ames hopes to recruit officers to Civil Service eligibility list.

Ames Police Commander Jim Robinson said the department is hoping to recruit officer candidates to its civil service list.
The department has one opening, but no one is currently on the list. The job pays about $22 to $29 an hour and requires a number of physical and mental tests, a background check and more. One of the requirements is that the person must sign a no tobacco pledge.
All successful applicants must have a high school diploma, a GED plus 60 semester hours or equivalent and be certified by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy within a year.
