Ames School Board Begins Architect Interviews
Board members will interview architects interested in designing three new elementary schools and two renovations.

The Ames Community School Board will begin interviewing potential architects at 4 p.m. today.
The board narrowed the list of 15 applicants to 6 and hope to interview all of the firms by 10 p.m. today.
The Board plans to interview BCDM, of Omaha/, of Ames; DLR Group, of Des Moines; OPN Architects, of Des Moines; , of Ames; StruXture Architects, of West Des Moines; and SVPA Architects, Inc. of West Des Moines tonight.

Those selected were among several architects that offered or were asked to submit a proposal for services. StruXture Architects worked with the board as a consultant to help develop the district's long-range facility plan.
Board President Dan Woodin has said that the board hopes to select an architect at its June 4 meeting.

Tonight's meeting will not be televised. It will be held in the at 415 Stanton Ave. The interviews are open to the public but no comments will be allowed.

4:05 p.m. Interview: BCDM Roseland Mackey Harris Architects PC in Conference Room B
5:00 p.m. Interview: StruXture Architects in 1st Floor Classroom
6:00 p.m. Interview: DLR Group in Conference Room B
7:00 p.m. Interview: OPN Architects in 1st Floor Classroom
8:00 p.m. Interview: RDG Planning and Design in Conference Room B
9:00 p.m. Interview: SVPA Architects, Inc. in 1st Floor Classroom
10:00 p.m. Adjournment

The community approved in referendum to fun construction and renovations for five elementary schools in the district.
 will be replaced with a new three-section building on Miller Avenue and it's expected that it will be built first.  and  elementary schools will be replaced on site and  and  elementary schools will be renovated.
