Ames Woman Charged After Found Allegedly Sleeping Outside an Apartment

A 48-year-old Ames woman faces three charges and more in Ames police blotter.

A woman found sleeping in front of an apartment door, blocks away from her listed address about 1 a.m. May 25, was charged with public intoxication, third offense; interference with official acts and assault on a peace officer.

Ames police went to the 3800 block of Lincoln Way to investigate a report of an intoxicated woman outside an apartment complex about 12:53 a.m. Friday.

Macie Jo Reed, 48, was sleeping on the sidewalk outside the front door of the apartment complex when police arrived, complaints stated.

The officer was able to awaken Reed and ask her some questions and Reed answered with slow, slurred speech, complaints stated. She smelled of alcohol and almost fell when she stood up, complaints stated. Reed told the officer that she had been drinking and had seven beers but she refused sobriety tests, complaints stated. The officer saw a nearly empty bottle of vodka in a nylon carrier attached to Reed's bicycle, complaints stated.

When the officer went to arrest Reed and tried to place her arms behind her back, Reed punched the officer in the face with a closed fist, complaints stated. Reed also tried to push the officer away and bite the officers right hand during the scuffle, complaints stated. Reed was eventually taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center for an evaluation. Reed is now being held in a Story County jail in Nevada on a $9,000 bond.

Kelsey Esquivel, 20, of Rhodes, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense; and failure to respond to an official traffic control signal.

Gavin Gross, 25, Nevada, was charged with public intoxication.

Joshua Hollie, 19, 16th Street, was charged with public intoxication, first offense, and interference with official acts.

Francisco Izquierdo Reyes, 46, Lincoln Swing, was charged with public intoxication.

Melbin Jimenez, 25, Storm Lake, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense.

Angel Jimenez-Chango, 31, Sheldon Avenue, was charged with public intoxication.

Cody Jones, 18, Grand Avenue, was charged with interference with official acts.

May 27

Daniel Anderson, 33, Ridgewood Ave., was charged with aiding an abetting and possession of a controlled substance.

Joshua Beach, 27, Huxley, was charged with public intoxication, third offense.

Jacob Lattimer, 23, Friley Road, was charged with disorderly conduct and interference with official acts.

Sara Slater, 25, Toronto Avenue, was charged with public intoxication.

May 28

Terry Scoville, 36, Roland, was charged with public intoxication.

Eric Seymour, 31, Toronto Avenue, was charged with driving under suspension, failure to provide security and possession of a schedule 5 drug.
