Ames Woman Faces 50 Years in Prison For Drug Charges
Jessica Heath, of Ames, was charged on multiple felony drug charges Thursday after an ongoing investigation by the Ames Police Department and the Central Iowa Drug Task Force.

An Ames woman could spend 50 years in prison if she is found guilty of each felony drug charge that was filed against her on Thursday.
Jessica Heath, 40, was charged with manufacture of marijuana, violation of the drug tax stamp act, and four counts of delivery of a controlled substance crack cocaine on Thursday as the result of an ongoing investigation by the and the Central Iowa Drug Task Force.
Heath allegedly sold substances purported to be crack cocaine to confidential informants on multiple occasions from June 6 to Aug. 7. The alleged sales took place at various locations including 5th and Douglas streets near the Ames Public Library. The substances tested positive for cocaine, according to complaints.

When police served a search warrant at her 5th Street home Thursday, officers found nine bags of marijuana and one marijuana brick in her bedroom, complaints said. Heath pointed out the substances to officers, complaints said.
Manufacture of marijuana and the violation of the drug tax stamp act are both Class D felonies punishable by five years in prison. Delivery of a controlled substance crack-cocaine is a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Heath was being held at the Story County Jail Friday on a $50,000 bond.
