Public Forums Scheduled on CDBG Program

The City of Ames will be hosting three opportunities to attend public forum sessions to educate the public on the status and the future of the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and to gather public feedback for its 2012-2013 Annual Action Plan project(s).

The meetings will be held at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. as follows:

5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the City Council Chambers

10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 in the City Council Chambers
1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 from in the City Council Chambers

The funding of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012, will be $511,276. CDBG funds can be used to implement a wide variety of community and economic development activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and the provision of improved community facilities and services.

The funded activities must meet the following three national objectives:

Benefit persons of low and moderate income

Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight
Meet other community development needs of particular urgency
