CONSERVATION CENTER OPEN ON SUNDAYS!

April 15 -- The Story County Conservation Center will be open to visitors on Sundays from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. These seasonal hours will begin April 15 and continue through October 28. Volunteers serve as center hosts, greeting and assisting visitors. The Story County Conservation Center is located at McFarland Park (56461 180th Street) northeast of Ames.

Inside the center, visitors will enjoy photo and educational displays and an air-conditioned bird viewing area. Complimentary state and county park brochures are available in the lobby. Visitors may purchase a variety of outdoor books in addition to Story County Conservation merchandise.

Bring your family out and enjoy McFarland Park. Hike or bike the numerous trails around the park, go fishing on our 6.5 acre lake, or visit the bird blind.
