From Story County
August 31 -- Story County Conservation has been selected as an Operation ReLeafdistribution site for fall 2012. In partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry and participating counties, Alliant Energy offers high-quality trees for just $25 to its residential utility customers.
Story County’s distribution date is Thursday, September 13 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Due to a scheduling conflict; the distribution site has been moved to East Peterson Park (55756 180th Street), northwest of Ames. Order forms and a list of fall distribution dates and locations are available at alliantenergy.com/releaf, or by calling 1-800-ALLIANT (1-800-255-4268).Â

Participants do not have to reside in Story County to purchase trees for this distribution date, but they must be residential customers of Alliant Energy and be able to pick up their trees on September 13. Depending on the species, trees are in #5-10 containers and range from 3-10 feet tall. There is a purchase limit of two trees per household, and advance orders are required.Â
An optional tree planting workshop is being offered at the distribution site. This short, free workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required via the Operation ReLeaf website (alliantenergy.com/releaf). Participants do not need to purchase a tree to attend this workshop.Â
