From the City of Ames:
AMES, Iowa – An amendment to change the designated use of 141 acres of land west of George Washington Carver Road and east of Squaw Creek will be discussed in a public workshop at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17 in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.
In the Land Use Policy Plan and Urban Fringe Plan, this property is currently identified as “Priority Transitional Residential.” The amendment would designate this area as “Urban Residential” on the Urban Fringe Plan, which allows for annexation and development to traditional urban standards. It would also become an “Allowable Growth Area” on the Land Use Policy Plan Future Land Use Map. The Land Use Policy Plan Future Land Use Map sets policy on property use and provides a framework to direct future development. The amendments would allow annexing the 141 acres for the development of senior housing and for residential development.
