Attempted Abductions Reported in Story County

Residents of Colo and Slater reported that a men driving vans offered children a ride in both towns on Wednesday.

Story County Sheriff's Office received two separate reports of possible attempted abductions Wednesday afternoon.

In the first case, Amy Johnston, of Colo, said a man driving a white colored van with tinted windows approached an 11-year-old girl on 4th Street in Colo and asked her if she wanted to get in the van, a release from the office stated. The girl reportedly ran to a friend's home, according to a release from the Story County Sheriff's Office.

In the second case Chris Chass of Slater said a man driving a black colored van approached a 12-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy as they were walking east on N. 1st Street in Slater and offered the children a ride. The man reportedly said that it was hot and he had air conditioning. The children ran to their home, a release from the sheriff's office said.
