Story County Conservation is hosting a two-person team fishing tournament Sept. 24 at Hickory Grove Park near Colo. Â
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the concession stand; the tournament is from 7 to 11 a.m. Â The fee is $35 per team if you pre-register with payment by 4:30 p.m., Sept. 21. The fee the day of the tournament is $45 per team. Individuals and youth are welcome to fish, however, the registration fee is the same.
Grab a friend and test your skills against other anglers on the waters of Hickory Grove Lake! Â Cash prizes of $100 will be awarded for each of the longest fish per species: Â largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Â Fish size is determined by length, and the official measurement must be taken by Story County Conservation staff or designated volunteers. Â Participants are asked to bring live wells or buckets and to have fish measured as soon as possible to reduce stress on fish. Â All entries are the property of the tournament officials. Â
Lunch follows the tournament and is included with the registration fee. Â Canoes may be rented on a first-come, first-served basis for a $5 fee during the tournament and may be reserved upon pre-registration. Â All county and state park regulations apply; participants 16 and old must possess a valid fishing license.
Registration forms are available www.storycountyconservation.org.  For a complete list of rules contact Ranger Dustin Eighmy at deighmy@storycounty.com.
