Area anglers will get a chance to test their skills on Hickory Grove Lake this spring. Story County Conservation will host at Spring Fishing Tournament from 7 to 11 a.m. April 28 at Hickory Grove Park. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the beach house (67382 250th St., Colo) located near the waterfront.
This event will be a two-person team tournament with $100 cash prizes award to teams that catch the longest bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. A free lunch will be available after the tournament concludes.Â
Registration cost is $35 for teams signed up before 4:30 p.m. on April 25; after April 25 the registration fee is $45. Teams can register the day-of the event. Individuals may register, but will be charged the full price.

Participants over the age of 16 must have a valid Iowa Fishing License. All 2012 Iowa Fishing Regulations will be followed. A Park Ranger will be present at the tournament. Only electric motors can be used on Hickory Grove Lake. Canoes will be available for rental for a $5 fee.
