Van Trip to Iowa City for Fun Adult Nature Outing

Join Story County Conservation for a FANS (Fun, Adult, Nature Series) van trip, Thursday, Oct. 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Adult Nature group will travel to F.W. Kent Park and the University of Iowa's Museum of Natural History. The fee for the trip is $25 and includes guides, travel, and lunch.  Registration with payment is required by 4:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17. Space is limited. 

The Adult Nature group will arrive at F. W. Kent Park (part of the Johnson County Conservation Board park system) where Naturalist Brad Freidof will give a tour of the nature center and lead a hike. Following the hike nature adults will have a leisurely box-lunch picnic in the park. In the afternoon, adults will enjoy a guided tour of the University of Iowa's Museum of Natural History. The museum features many Iowa-centered exhibits, including the Tarkio Sloth project.

Participants will meet at McFarland Park (56461 180th St.) northeast of Ames, before departing at 8 a.m.  Participants should dress for the weather, including sturdy walking shoes (no sandals), a sun hat, and sunscreen.  The van will return to McFarland Park around 5:00 p.m.
