Fire on Knapp Avenue Displaces Residents
A three-story apartment building caught fire early Friday.

A fire at an apartment building early Friday displaced residents of 2327 Knapp Ave.
A caller reported smoke coming from the building about 3:15 a.m. Friday, according to a release from the Ames Fire Department.
When fire fighters arrived they opened up the walls and ceiling of the third story apartment to extinguish the fire, the release said.

Everyone was able to escape unharmed and property managers were working with residents to find them new homes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
