Fourth of July Fireworks in Ames

Ames Jaycees had to reschedule fireworks this year.

The Ames Jaycees had to move its Fourth of July fireworks show because the organization was unable to find an electronic shoot technician available on Wednesday evening.

This year's Fourth of July fireworks show will instead take place at dusk Tuesday (usually between 9 and 10 p.m.) July 3. They will be fired from the same location, .

However Ames Downtown Main Street organization's parade and festival will still take place on the Fourth.  

The mayor's free pancake breakfast will be held outside from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 4. The Fourth of July parade begins at 11 a.m. and follows Main Street, Douglas Avenue and Fifth Streets. And the Ames Main Street festival takes place noon to 3 p.m. on Burnett Street also July 4. The Bill Reily Talent Search takes place 11 a.m. July 4 in
