Furman Aquatic Center Open Saturday

Furman Aquatic Center Opens 1 p.m. Saturday and will be open daily 1 to 8 p.m. through Labor Day, with few exceptions.

The center, featuring two body slides, one drop slide, a lazy river and more will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. through Labor Day with few exceptions. (Fourth of July the park will be open 1 to 6 p.m. )

About 100,000 people are expected to come through the park in the three-month season.

"It's a safe, fun, clean, environment," said Keith Abraham, the Ames Park & Recreation superintendent.

New this year is a water walk in the lazy river from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a few lanes of the 50 meter pool will be dedicated to adult lap swimming from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The early bird lap swim will be held daily through the week from 6 to 8 a.m. and treats will be allowed in the pool area for toddler time only. Toddler time is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Daily admission ranges from $1 to $4.50. Season passes are $65 for youth and seniors, $95 for adults or $205 for the whole family.

Abraham said pass holders should remember to bring their entrance fobs. It speeds admittance.
