Hoiberg Signs 8-Year $1.5 Million Contract

Hoiberg's most recent starting lineup included two who hope to be selected in the NBA Draft.

Fred Hoiberg, Iowa State University's basketball coach, who is often called “The Mayor”, agreed to an eight-year contract with an average $1.5 million salary through 2021, announced Tuesday.

The agreement replaces a five-year deal Hoiberg signed in 2010, as reported by the Times Republican.

Hoiberg said in a statement that returning to Ames has exceeded his expectations and he's thrilled to continue his coaching at Iowa State.

Hoiberg's team made it to the NCAA playoffs last season, the first time since 2005, and two members of the starting line up: Scott , a senior, and , a sophomore, hope to be selected during the NBA draft on June 28.
