ISU's Smithsonian Display at Iowa State Fair

Iowa State University's Smithsonian Folklife Festival exhibit is on display at the Varied Industries Building.

If you missed out on a Smithsonian display of in July you can still catch a glimpse of "Transforming Communities: Design in Action,"at the Iowa State Fair which opened Thursday.

The university's 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival exhibit will be featured in Iowa State's "Celebrating our Morrill Act Heritage" display in the air-conditioned Varied Industries Building.

The Morrill Act gave way to land grant universities like Iowa State. The interactive exhibits let users see how Iowa State has helped transform communities and solve problems. About one million people experienced the exhibit in Washington D.C. During the 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, from June 27-July 8.

The University described the exhibit as a collection of 130 LED panels of images and ideas, games, and stories that sounds like Simon Estes and weighs a ton. Watch the video attached to this story to see the display's construction.

Iowa State University's booth will also boast other achievements including the of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes with a display of the CyHawk Trophy.
