LAST CHANCE: Planning and Zoning Applications are due 5 p.m. Today

City of Ames Planning and Zoning Commission has an opening. The application deadline is today.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is currently seeking a new commission member who will serve a term expiring April 1, 2013.

Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office, 515 Clark Ave., or online by 5 p.m. today.

The commission performs a variety of tasks including making surveys, studies, maps, plans, or charts of the City or surrounding areas which may affect Ames.

The commission also recommends changes to zoning and offers advice relating to location of City facilities and streets, and may recommend a comprehensive plan for the City that affects future development. Commission members are appointed by the mayor.
