Man Accused of Driving Drunk With Children

An Ames man faces multiple charges after being accused of driving drunk with three children under the age of 10 and more from Ames Police Blotter.

An Ames man was charged with child endangerment after breath samples showed his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit while driving.

Garry Allen, 47, Wilson Ave., was charged with driving under suspension, child endangerment and operating while intoxicated for an incident that took place Friday evening.

Ames police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle that had just parked at a grocery store at Burnett Ave. when officers arrived, according to complaints. Allen got out of the 1997 Ford Econoline with three children who ranged from 4 to 8 years old. Police asked Allen for his license and he admitted that he did not have one, complaints said. Police also noticed that the man smelled like alcohol and spoke with slurred speech, complaints said. He failed field sobriety tests and blew a .184 percent BAC on a portable machine and later blew a .194 percent BAC back at the Ames Police Department, complaints said. Allen told police that he drank two to three natural ice beers, complaints said. Allen's charges were all misdemeanors.

Clarissa Ghost Bear, 23, Lincoln Swing, was charged with domestic abuse at 7:34 p.m.

Darnell Randle-El, 31, Des Moines, was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense; driving while license denied and failure to obey traffic control device, at 9:41 a.m.

Daniel Schuelzky, 24, Hickory Drive, was charged with first-degree robbery at 3:20 p.m.

Martin Soens, 56, S. Kellogg Ave., was charged with public intoxication, third offense at 3:30 p.m.

July 28

Ramiro Duran, 36, Progresso, Texas; was charged with public intoxication, second offense at 3:15 a.m.

Konstiantyn Kononenkov, 23, University Village, was charged with public consumption at 3:04 a.m.

Brian Larson, 44, U.S. Highway 69, was charged with public intoxication at 12:22 a.m.

Stephanie Wandling, 22, homeless, was charged with manufacture of marijuana and violation of the drug tax stamp act at 7 p.m.

July 29

Jairo Gregprio-Sandoval, 30, Dotson Drive, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense; no drivers license and turning from an improper lane at 2:20 a.m.
