Ames Police: Ex-Quiznos Sub Shop Employee Tries Unusual Way to Collect Last Paycheck

Daniel Schuelzky is accused of attacking a Quiznos Sub manager and attempting to steal the manager's wallet and more from Ames Police Blotter.

AMES, IA — An Ames man could spend 25 years in prison for allegedly attempting to steal his pay straight from his ex-manager's wallet.

Daniel Schuelzky, 24, was charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B Felony, for an alleged scuffle over unpaid work that took place at on July 27.

Schuelzky went to the shop on Friday to pick up his last paycheck and was upset that he was paid for just 10 hours when he thought he had worked 17.5 hours, complaints stated. The manager said that Schuelzky would have to wait until he could find documentation for the additional hours.

Instead of waiting, Schuelzky allegedly said he was “going to get his money” and punched the manager in the face, the back of the head and Schuelzky admitted that he kicked the manager's genitals and ribs, complaints stated. During the scuffle, Schuelzky also tried to steal the manager's wallet in attempt to collect what he was owed for his work, complaints stated.

When police arrived they found the men scuffling on the ground behind Quiznos, complaints stated. The manager's shirt was stained with blood and he was bleeding from his nose, complaints said.

A class B felony is punishable by 25 years in prison. Schuelzky is currently being held at Story County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
