(Update) ISU Student Who Fell From 5th-Floor Balcony in Critical Condition

Ames Police Department releases name of student injured in fall.

The name of an Iowa State University student who fell from a fifth-story apartment ledge early Sunday has been released.

Christian McKee, 19, of Ames, sustained a number of serious injuries from the fall and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment, according to a release from the . Mercy Medical Center staff said McKee is currently listed in critical condition.

McKee had climbed over the railing of a fifth-story balcony at Apartments before he fell, according to police. McKee is listed as a freshman engineering student in the University's directory.

Police were called to help about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. People told police that McKee was alone on the balcony when he fell. Anyone with information about the fall should call the Ames Police Department at (515) 239-5133.
