Nevada Woman Allegedly Shoplifted with 10-year-old

A Nevada woman was charged with third-degree theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and more in this week's Ames Police blotter.

A Nevada woman was charged with third-degree theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allegedly shoplifting at the Ames and knowingly allowing a 10-year-old girl to wear some of the stolen goods, Ames Police said.

Caroline Santoyo, 35, allegedly admitted to police that she had shoplifted and that a 10-year-old who was with her was wearing stolen jewelry, complaints said.

Police went to the Walmart on South Duff Avenue just before 5 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of a theft in progress, complaints said. Employees told police that a woman and children were cutting tags from items and concealing them in bags and had passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for the items, complaints said. Police said they stopped the woman outside the store and that she admitted to the theft and admitted knowing that one of the children was wearing stolen jewelry, complaints said.
