RDG Planning and Design will present initial design concepts for Ames Community School District's first new elementary school Wednesday.

Hillside Avenue residents who want to see what a new elementary school on Miller Avenue might look like should attend 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the .
Ames Community Schools recently signed a contract with architectural firm RDG IA Inc., for $3.5 million for the design of three new elementary schools and the renovation of two others.
The Miller Avenue school would replace the aging School, built in 1952. RDG's presentation will cover what the community should expect at the construction site in upcoming months and introduce preliminary designs showing the site orientation, external features and traffic and parking features, according to a release from the school district.

Voters approved a $55 million bond referendum to fund the replacement of three elementary schools and the renovation of two others. Edwards will be replaced with a new three-section school on Miller Avenue.
